The Colúr-Tankette was one of the first tanks introduced by the SDF-Army and the first tank design by Gabha Blacksmiths Limited. Over the course of its service life with the Army, the Colúr was used as a weapons carrier, an APC, an artillery tractor (or tractor in general), an engineer vehicle and in a variety of other uses until it was phased out in 1963 in favour of the Faolchú Armoured Personnel Carrier.

To this day, the Colúr-Tankette is used by civilian enterprises as a tractor for heavy loads, for example in forestry or on airports, with private persons having adopted them as vehicles for joyrides. In Tank Sport and Sensha-Do in the Free Lands, the Colúr is used as a tractor as well, to drag away damaged vehicles. Both the Naval School Sensha-Do Team and the Iris Boarding School Complex Sensha-Do Team operate and maintain a total of nine Colúrs. Production and maintenance is handled on demand by Gabha Motorworks Limited.
