The Imperial Army, usually simply called the Heer or the Army, is the Land Arm of the Imperial Armed Forces and the core of all military capabilities the Imperial Armed Forces have.

With a total manpower of roundabout 550,000 officers and men, the Imperial Army is the largest part of the Imperial Armed Forces. Not counted into that number are the men under compulsory military service, which sees them for two years in the Army's direct services, after which the soldier is a reservist for fifteen years. The only ways of not being part of the compulsory service are being a woman, invalided out or volunteering for the Navy, the Territorialheer or the Imperial Civil Service.

The Territorialheer is not part of the Army, but is placed under the Army's Command in case of a foreign invasion.

History

Predecessors

The Army and the Foundation of the Second Empire (1752)

The First Paísancho-War (1765 - 1782)

The Second Paísancho-War (1803 - 1850)

An analysis of both wars by Kronprinz Falk in 1912 revealed, that the cause of the Auwaltian Not-Victories was not the strength of the enemy, but the arrogance of the generals and officers in the Auwaltian Army. For them, Paisancho was just free land, which they only needed to take, with complete disregard to the geography and climate of the country. The lesson to be learned, in his mind, was to not underestimate the enemy and to keep the land one is fighting in in mind.

Equipment

See Main Article: Equipment of the Imperial Army.

The Imperial Army's backbone is its service rifle and the soldiers schooled in its usage, typically the infantryman (or infantrywoman, as the case may be). That rifle is the Karabiner Modell 1899, chambered for the Patrone Modell 1900, a 6.5x50 mm semi-rimmed cartridge, which is getting on with the years and mostly effective at and below a range of around 400 meters.

The main weapon of the heavy artillery is the Fd. 8.25 Howitzer, a 150 mm howitzer using the same ammunition as the Fd. 8.25 Gun of the Navy. The lighter field artillery's workhorse is the Fd. 5.5 Howitzer, not to be confused with the Fd. 5.5 Guns of the Navy, which do not share the same ammunition.

Appearance

Uniforms

The Imperial Army has two main uniforms, the Battle Dress and the Parade Uniform. Uniforms for specialized environments are usually only variations of the Battle Dress, for example the Winteruniform is Battle Dress with a white overthrow,
