The Pattern M Frigate, also known as the Pattern M Light Destroyer, is a Multi-Purpose Frigate of the Sultan's Navy. They are planned to be phased out by 2022 and 45 years of service.
Design
The Pattern M was the result of an enhancement to the existing Pattern K and L Corvettes, owed to the fact, that the vast majority of Malaca-class Destroyers were cancelled in the budget cuts following the ascension to the throne of Razia-Sultana Umm Albilad and that the Navy needed destroyers to replace the overworked hulls from the Decolonization Wars.

The first unit, RKN Muphrid, was commissioned in 1977. The first building lot was named in honour of various stars in the night sky.
